Common Issues

Fixes for the problems that come up most often.

Engine not initialized#

Set the game path manually inside of Settings → Launcher, with the Game Directory setting.

If any initialization issues persist after this setting is enabled, join our discord server for help.

Game launches but mods arent loading in-game#

Although Aurora will automatically detect if the engine did not load, sometimes it loads but goes wrong somewhere down the line. Follow these steps in order:

The most common fix is changing Engine method to Alternate in Settings → Launcher with the Engine Method setting.

If the step above didn't fix it for you, go to your game's installation folder, navigate to \Client\WindowsNoEditor\HT\Binaries\Win64 and look for an "Everlight.log" file. Open it and see if it says mods were loaded. If they weren't, we suggest joining our discord server and asking a developer for the exact cause. We'll most likely fix it by the next patch.

The game crashes on launch#

Unfortunately with a lot of these crashes it's not Aurora itself but rather mods. PAK mods aren't known for their compatibility through game versions. Usually if a major game version was released then some mods will just not work.

Try the following steps in order:

  • Disable all addons inside Aurora
  • Use "Repair Aurora" inside of the launch menu
  • Use the Bisecting method: disable half of your mods. If the crash isn't fixed, disable another half. Continue until the broken mod is found.
  • NUCLEAR: Do a full game file integrity verification that your platform game provider has. "Repair Files" for native, "Check Integrity" for Steam, etc.

Warning: Before doing the nuclear option of doing a full file integrity check, backup and mods you may have inside of the \AuroraMods folder. This option is known to delete your installed mods.

Lua scripts aren't running#

Lua needs UE4SS, which is an external dependency that we don't control. As such this option can have quite a lot of issues sometimes. Since the option is pretty new and we are not 100% sure on the fixes of some of these issues, please report any issues to the development team.
